| Chris Christensen Systems has done a lot of research on
the grooming techniques and maintenance of wire coated canine breeds.
Many manufacturers have what they call a "harsh coat shampoo". But our
belief is that it is impossible to keep a harsh coat harsh through a
shampoo. Reason being is, that as soon as you apply water to the coat
you break down the salt bonds of the hair and soften the coat. It takes
approximately two weeks for the salt bonds in the hair to rebuild and
for the coat to go back to the natural harshness required by the breed
standard. Therefore, how could a harsh coat shampoo truly maintain
harshness of the coat? Chris Christensen Systems has found that most
professional Dog Show People (or Dog Show People that have been around a
long time) aren't fooled by so called "harsh coat shampoos" cause they
know there is no such thing. You simply can't get the coat wet. And,
these professional Dog Show People just down right don't bathe the
canine. From this benefit of maintaining the coats harshness by not
bathing there are many negatives as we all know. You know have a harsh
coated canine, living up to the breed standard, but you have a dander
problem, odor problem, fungus problem and the list goes on. On The Wire was conceived from these many difficult problems involved in caring for and showing wire coated breeds. From maintaining the coat's harshness when cleansing to alleviating the dry flaky dander, itchy skin and odor. In short, how to maintain good health and hygiene and at the same time present the coat at the maximum harshness for the breed's standard and showing advantage. You just apply On The Wire to the palm of your hand and rub the foam between both hands, apply to the jacket and/or on all parts of the coat you with to clean. You do not pre-wet the coat. On the jacket loosen the dander with a terry towel. Follow by styling in your normal way or blow dry while brushing in the direction you wish the coat to lie. A very small amount goes a long ways.
